The colours of Christmas
December 14th, 2006
I have been thinking about the colours of Christmas and the messages that they have to offer for this time of the year. Traditionally the colours are Red, Green and Gold.
Red is about being grounded. What does this really mean? To be grounded we are able to be practical and connected to the Earth. This is an important step as it helps us to get in touch with our Mission and Purpose and what we have come to do in this lifetime.
More and more I see the Red as being focused and present and it is when we are truly present that we can give the best of ourselves. When we always look back at the past we find regrets and recriminations and when we look into the future we wish to create something different. If we can put the roots down in the present and start laying the foundation, we can create that future now instead of longing for it.
The past is there as a reminder of the lessons that we have learnt and they can be used as an understanding of what we would like to place in the foundation but we should not get too tied down to how things were or where they went wrong.
At Christmas time we give presents and perhaps it is a reminder to be fully present when we create a joyous New Year. All things are possible if we allow it to be.
Green is to do with the feelings of the heart and Christmas can often bring about some of the most beautiful of human emotions. There are smiles to people we don’t know as we develop a compassionate understanding for others. It must really appear as if there is an abundance of earthly angels at this time!
Green is also to do with growth and perhaps it is a reminder that although we are in Winter the Spring is only a few months away! The evergreen presence of the Holly leaves continue to grow in defiance to the coldness of the winter. In the deepest time of hibernation we too can grow through love and caring!
Gold is about the Incarnational Star - the star that lies two fingers above the belly button and about two fingers depth inside. Like the three wise men followed the Star to Bethlehem to find Baby Jesus so it is that if we follow our own star that lies in the depths of our being so we will find the gifts within. To acknowledge the Star of ourselves is to recognise the point of Alchemy within us -we all have the potential to turn the raw materials into something of great worth.
Although it may be cold outside, may the warmth within you reach out and touch others that we may all share our warmth in the world.
Wishing you a season of love, light, joy and peace and a 2007 that brings the promise of fulfilment of all your most beautiful dreams.
Love and light
