Day 1 - 21st September

This part of the journey involved a rather long and arduous seven hour journey to Kubu Lodge in The Timbavati which is very close to Hoedspruit. There were around 50 people on the coach and we were all very grateful when we got to Kubu Lodge at 8pm that evening. We ate dinner and most of us had an early evening to prepare us for what was to come.

Today was the day that we were to meet Linda Tucker - the Guardian of the White Lions on her own land.

sphinx.jpgBefore taking the coach on the 10 minute journey to her land we all shared a meditation. I saw a Sphinx with the head of a Lion and I saw four wooden bridges that intersected in the middle. I was invited to walk into the centre which I did and thereafter I did not remember much else. I came out of the meditation feeling very peaceful and calm.

linda_tucker.jpgLinda Tucker was lovely to meet and she had two Shangaan trackers led our group through the Klaserie River Bed which lies on the Meridian from the Nile River through to Durban. She asked that we take off our shoes and walk on the river bed so that we could get a sense of the Meridian running under our feet.

Unfortunately there were too many us to all hear about the different spoors that the trackers were able to identify but something of interest is that when the White Lions were first released into the wild, the first prey they hunted were the porcupines. Porcupines are new on the evolutionary chain and by hunting and eating them they were able to absorb the porcupine energy medicine into themselves.

baobab1.jpgOur journey ended at an ancient baobab tree that is said to be around fifteen hundred years old. The bark was solid and sitting against it made me feel nurtured and protected. Some people sat in its branches and we all understood that she had many secrets absorbed within her waiting to be shared.

We sat and ate a lovely picnic lunch under her branches and after lunch we performed the first of our ceremonies.

baobab2.jpgWe discovered that each ceremony over six days would be based on an element and today we were going to honour the water ceremony.

Someone was chosen as water bearer and took a large wooden bowl down to the river to collect some water.

Mike Booth explained to us that water comes from a different place than earth and water relates to our consciousness at a very deep level. He asked that when we felt ready, we should each touch the water and send a blessing to the water.

When it was my chance to stand in front of the water, I closed my eyes and saw a large lion. I have not really understood the lion in the past and it’s role as king of the jungle and I feel that this journey helped me to understand the Lion’s Role. Without really understanding what I was asking for I blessed the water and asked that the lions resume their rightful place in the world.

After everyone had blessed the water, the water was taken back to the river to intermingle with the rest of the flow so that our blessings could go as far as the water could carry them.

During the ceremony someone saw a little leopard cub and there were monkeys that were playing in the trees on the outskirts of where we were sitting. This was a reminder that we should not take everything too seriously but to also have fun!

In the afternoon we had a real treat as some Shangaan children performed a ceremony to do with the Freedom of the White Lions, They sang and danced beautifully and it was a joy to get in touch with their love and innocence.

After dinner we watched a video of the White Lion Story which I found particularly difficult as it featured why Linda was trying to help the White Lions back to freedom in the Timbavati.

Unfortunately White Lions are being bred in camps as future trophy symbols for people around the world and they are shot in captivity which has coined the phrase of “canned hunting”. The lions have no where to run and they are sadly being exploited. (This will appear in a different blog) There was a short clip of this in the video and for me the evening ended on a bit of a saddened note.

What I have since understood is that it is necessary to send to love to everyone and that what ever we see is all part of a bigger plan.

Energetically, our group was there to heal the land and to play a part of laying the foundation of a new and beautiful future to come.
